Domaine Henri Bonneau

Henri Bonneau is unarguably Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s legend. He was a very modest and simple living man who crafted some of the best wines in the world. Unfortunately Henri passed away in 2016. The domaine is now run by his son Marcel and Daniel Combin, who has been for a long time, the exclusive distributor of the domaine. For decades, nothing has changed in the domaine.

Different grapes varieties are complanted in the vineyard which never saw any chemicals. The different terroirs are vinified separately (La Crau and Petits Quartiers).

Wines are vinified in whole cluster, in small concrete tanks without temperature control. The wines are aged for 4 to 5 years (sometimes more) in very old barrels in a tiny cellar under the family house in the centre of the village. They are raked once a year and blended together before bottling to create the 3 different cuvées. Only a tiny amount of sulphur is added before bottling.
