Domaine de Marcoux

The Armenier family has been documented in Châteauneuf-du-Pape since 1344. Among the very first estates in the appellation to embrace biodynamics  as early as 1990, long before it became fashionable  Domaine de Marcoux embodies a vision of Châteauneuf that is as rigorous as it is elegant. Since 2019, Sophie Armenier and her son Vincent Estevenin have been stewarding 28 hectares spread across ten distinct terroirs within the appellation, from the iconic galets roulés to sandy soils and clay-limestone.

The reds, dominated by old Grenache vines  some over a century old impress with their depth, silkiness and vibrant energy, far removed from any heavy, overripe excess. The white, crafted from Roussanne and Bourboulenc, ranks among the finest whites of the southern Rhône: straight, saline and tightly wound. Long macerations of three to six weeks, indigenous yeasts and an 18-month ageing in concrete vats and foudres a cellar approach entirely at the service of the land.
