Domaine de la Croix Mélier

Located in the heart of the Loire Valley, Domaine de la Croix Mélier sits on the hillsides of Husseau in Montlouis-sur-Loire, where Chenin Blanc has long flourished. The estate was passed on in 2017 from Pascal Berthelot to Philippe Ivancic and Dominique Weiss, a couple who changed careers—he a former actor, she involved in micro-credit development—before studying viticulture in Beaune and fully dedicating themselves to wine. Despite a devastating frost their first year, they pressed forward with conviction, converting the vineyards to organic farming (certified AB/EUROFEUILLE in 2022).

The domaine now farms 12.5 ha, produces around 40,000 bottles annually, and harvests by hand. Focused mainly on Chenin Blanc (90%) with a touch of Sauvignon Blanc, they craft dry, tender, sweet and sparkling Montlouis wines, alongside Touraine whites and rosés, enjoyed in a charming former cooperage tasting room.
